Confirm the mattress construction
Identify the brand, model, protector and care instructions. Covers that appear zipped are not necessarily intended for removal. Sealy Canada’s guidance, for example, restricts moisture and identifies vacuuming as its recommended routine method. Do not generalise a method to every foam, sprung or hybrid product.
Define permitted surface work
Agree bedding removal, accessible surfaces and any limited spot assessment the manufacturer allows. Wet extraction, steam, solvents and saturation are not assumed appropriate. Pest evidence, bodily-fluid contamination, mould and flood damage need a separate specialist route. Moving a heavy mattress or accessing the base should be expressly assessed rather than hidden inside a surface-cleaning appointment.
Keep expectations specific
Review the treated surface and record stains, wear or damage remaining. Reconcile the protector and linen responsibilities and explain any relevant drying or use guidance. Cleaning does not guarantee dust-mite, allergen, germ or odour elimination. If the condition cannot be addressed within product guidance, the useful next step may be a specialist assessment or replacement decision.

A few helpful answers.
Does this sterilise the mattress?
No. Do not infer a health guarantee from ordinary surface cleaning.
Can the cover be unzipped for washing?
