Read the complete textile
Identify fabric, lining, interlining, trim and care labels where available. Sun exposure, fragile folds and prior shrinkage can change suitability. Curtains and structured drapery are not automatically machine-washable because they are removable. Valuable or unidentified textiles may need a specialist cleaner or conservator rather than an in-home method.
Plan removal and handling separately
Agree whether the first task is installed dust removal, permitted laundering or a specialist referral. Height, track access, weight and rehanging responsibilities matter. Record hooks, panels and orientation so the set remains understandable. Electrical blind or track systems and fragile fittings should not be dismantled under a general textile-cleaning assumption.
Define the returned result
Ask for realistic expectations about stains, fading, shrinkage and drying through the suitable provider. Reconcile every panel and accessory, and identify repairs or fabric deterioration separately. No allergen-eradication or new-fabric guarantee should be attached. A good coordination brief helps the household choose between limited installed care and a more involved off-site service.
